  • 2 cups frozen or fresh fries for crispiness, use double fried if possible
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese or your preferred melting cheese
  • 1 can (15 oz) spicy chili beans or chili sauce prepared or canned
  • 2 cloves garlic finely minced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil for cooking chili sauce
  • to taste salt and pepper for seasoning

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and spread the fries evenly on a baking sheet. Bake for about 15 minutes until golden and crispy, then remove and set aside.
  2. Meanwhile, heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 30 seconds, then stir in the chili beans or chili sauce. Simmer for 5 minutes until the mixture thickens slightly and develops aromatics. Season with salt and pepper.

  3. Once the chili sauce is ready, ladle it over the crispy fries, spreading evenly to cover the surface.

  4. Sprinkle the shredded sharp cheddar cheese evenly over the chili-covered fries. Return the tray to the oven or broiler, and bake for an additional 3-5 minutes until the cheese melts completely and starts to turn golden.
