Ingredients

  • 1 cup frozen cherries pitted or unpitted, as preferred
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder for richness
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar adjust to taste
  • 1 cup chopped dark chocolate or chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons butter for melting
  • 1 tablespoon bourbon optional, for flavor

Equipment

  • Skillet or cast-iron pan
  • Stove

Method

  1. Place the skillet on the stove over medium heat and add the butter, allowing it to melt completely with a gentle sizzle. It should foam softly and smell rich and buttery.
  2. Add the frozen cherries to the skillet, spreading them evenly. Cook for about 2-3 minutes, stirring gently, until they release some juice and begin to soften, releasing a fruity aroma.
  3. Sprinkle the cocoa powder and sugar over the cherries, stirring gently to combine. Watch as the mixture darkens and bubbles slightly around the edges, creating a rich, fragrant base.
  4. Pour in the bourbon if using, allowing it to sizzle and cook off the alcohol for about a minute, enhancing the глуб richness of the fruit-chocolate mixture.
  5. Sprinkle in the chopped chocolate or chocolate chips, stirring continuously until the mixture is glossy, smooth, and thickens slightly. You’ll notice the chocolate melting into the fruit, creating a luscious sauce.
  6. Reduce the heat to low and let everything simmer gently for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally. The bubbling should intensify, and the mixture will become fragrant and silky.
  7. Once bubbling and thickened, remove the skillet from heat. The edges will be slightly set but still gooey in the center, inviting a spoonful of decadence.
  8. Serve the skillet hot, spooning the luscious cherry chocolate mixture onto plates or bowls. Enjoy with a dollop of whipped cream or a sprinkle of sea salt if desired.
