Ingredients

  • 1/2 pound ground beef or any minced meat
  • 1 cup shredded cheese cheddar or preferred variety
  • 1 cup leftover pasta drained if cooked local
  • 1 pickle pickle chopped
  • 2 tablespoons oil for browning meat
  • to taste salt and pepper

Equipment

  • Large skillet or frying pan
  • Spatula or wooden spoon
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Knife

Method

  1. Heat the large skillet over medium-high heat and add 2 tablespoons of oil. Once hot, add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned and crispy on the edges, about 5-7 minutes, and then transfer to a plate.
    1/2 pound ground beef
  2. Reduce heat to medium and return the cooked beef to the skillet. Spread it evenly across the pan, then sprinkle shredded cheese over the beef. Allow the cheese to melt completely, approximately 2-3 minutes, creating a gooey layer on top.
    1/2 pound ground beef
  3. Add the leftover pasta and chopped pickle into the skillet with the beef and cheese mixture. Stir gently to combine all ingredients evenly, letting everything heat through and meld together for 2-3 minutes.
    1/2 pound ground beef
  4. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the mixture to thicken slightly and develop a crispy bottom and edges. Observe the mixture as it begins to brown and crisp around the edges, indicating completion.
  5. Finish by removing from heat and letting it rest for a minute. Serve hot directly from the skillet, with crispy bits on top and a gooey, cheesy texture inside.

Notes

Feel free to customize with other leftovers like cooked vegetables or different cheeses. Adjust salt and pepper to taste for desired seasoning.
