Ingredients

  • 2 cups water for brewing tea
  • 2 teabags black tea or loose leaf tea, brewed strongly
  • 8 ounces milk preferably whole milk or milk of choice
  • 3 large fresh strawberries hulled and sliced
  • 2 tablespoons honey or sugar optional, for added sweetness
  • ice cubes ice for serving

Equipment

  • Kettle or saucepan
  • Tea infuser or teapot
  • Muddler or fork
  • Strainer
  • Glasses or cups

Method

  1. Bring the water to a boil in a kettle or saucepan, then pour over the tea bags or loose tea in a teapot. Steep for about 5 minutes until the tea is strong and fragrant, then remove the tea bags.
  2. While the tea is brewing, wash and hull the strawberries, then slice them into small pieces. Use a muddler or fork to mash the strawberries until they release their juice and become slightly chunky.
  3. Pour the hot brewed tea into a container and let it cool slightly for a few minutes. Add the honey or sugar, stirring until fully dissolved.
  4. In a pitcher, combine the cooled tea with the sliced strawberries and their juice. Mix gently to infuse the flavors for about 5 minutes.
  5. Meanwhile, add the milk to the infused tea mixture, stirring well to blend the fruity and creamy elements together.
  6. Fill glasses with ice cubes, then pour the strawberry milk tea over the ice, giving it a gentle stir to chill thoroughly and serve.
  7. Garnish each glass with a fresh strawberry or a sprig of mint if desired, and enjoy this refreshing pink beverage.
