Ingredients

  • 4 cups ripe watermelon flesh seedless or deseeded for ease
  • 1 lemon fresh lemon for juice and zest
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt enhances sweetness and flavor
  • 1 tbsp honey or agave syrup optional, for a touch of extra sweetness

Equipment

  • Sharp knife
  • Cutting Board
  • Juice Squeezer or Hands
  • Glass Pitcher or Large Bowl

Method

  1. Cut the watermelon into manageable chunks, removing any rind or seeds if necessary.
  2. Hold the watermelon piece over a large bowl or pitcher and squeeze firmly to extract the juice, listening for the fresh, crisp sound and watching the vibrant pink liquid flow out.
  3. Roll the lemon on the countertop to loosen the juice, then cut it in half and squeeze the juice directly into the bowl, catching any seeds.
  4. Add a pinch of sea salt and the honey or syrup to the watermelon and lemon mixture, stirring gently to combine everything smoothly.
  5. Taste the drink and adjust with more lemon, salt, or sweetness if desired, giving a final stir to meld the flavors.
  6. Pour the refreshing watermelon lemonade into glasses or a serving pitcher, and optionally, add ice cubes for extra coolness.
  7. Garnish with a thin lemon slice or a small sprig of mint for visual appeal and added aroma.
  8. Serve immediately, enjoying the bright color, crisp aroma, and vibrant flavor of this simple summery drink.

Notes

For an even smoother texture, strain the watermelon juice through a fine sieve before mixing.
