Ingredients

  • 4 cups cubed seedless watermelon flesh chilled for best results
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice freshly squeezed for bright flavor
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt just a pinch to enhance flavor

Equipment

  • Cutting Board
  • Sharp knife
  • Blender
  • Fine mesh strainer
  • Pitcher

Method

  1. Chop the watermelon into chunks using a sharp knife on a cutting board, making the pieces small enough to blend easily.
  2. Add the watermelon chunks to a blender, then pour in the cold water.
  3. Blend the mixture on high speed until smooth and slightly frothy, about 30 seconds. You should see a vibrant pink liquid with some pulp floating around.
  4. Pour the blended liquid through a fine mesh strainer into a pitcher, pressing gently to extract as much liquid as possible while leaving behind pulp and solids.
  5. Add the lime juice and a pinch of salt to the strained liquid, stirring well to combine everything evenly.
  6. Chill the Agua Fresca in the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes, or serve immediately over ice for an extra cold refreshment.

Notes

For a sweeter drink, adjust by adding a teaspoon of honey or agave syrup before blending.
